Fierce Combat at the Battle of Kurikaradani
The battle of Kurikara (Kurikara tōge no tatakai) in 1183 was a crucial engagement in Japan's Genpei War; in this battle the tide of the war turned in the favour of the Minamoto clan. The triptych actually represents Nakagawa Kiyohide and Sakuma Gemba Morimasa at the Battle of Shizu-ga-mine in 1583.
